ARBURG at Plast 2023

ARBURG will be responding to buyers' desire to save energy and the Italy's increased need for sustainability with its appearance at Plast 2023 in Milan. From 5 to 8 September, ARBURG will show its full range of technologies at Stand C/D 61/62 in Hall 22 and will also present an interesting cooperation with Sverital in the field of silicone processing.

Production of silicone parts from solid silicone

At Plast Milan, the anniversary ALLROUNDER 470 H will have a special configuration and will produce silicone parts from solid silicone for the first time. An ACH TURNMIX feeder will be used as a peripheral device, with demoulding carried out via ACH EOT and a MULTILIFT SELECT 8 depositing the parts on the conveyor belt.

ALLROUNDER 570 A produces flip-top closure

An electric ALLROUNDER 570 A will be used to demonstrate a typical packaging application: flip-top closures used for bottles in the beauty care industry. The closures will be made of PP from Exxon Mobil. The GESTICA control system has various assistance functions such as aXw Control CycleAssist, aXw Control FillAssist, and aXw Control PressurePilot. The process can be conveniently managed via OPC UA interfaces to hot runners and the cooling system.

IML cups using the injection-compression moulding process

The electric ALLROUNDER 720 A Ultimate, an energy-efficient and sustainable alternative to thermoforming, will be celebrating its Italian premiere at the show. The machine, complete with new size 1300 injection unit, will be demonstrating how environmentally friendly, thin-walled IML cups made from PP mono material can be produced using the injection-compression moulding process. For process monitoring, the mould is fitted with four compression path sensors. Integrated into the production cell is a side-entry robot from our partner Brink that inserts the labels, removes the finished cups and stacks them on a conveyor belt.

ALLROUNDER MORE produces 2-component parts

Another highlight at the trade fair stand is a two-component ALLROUNDER MORE 1600 injection moulding machine with two electric injection units. Handling is performed by a six-axis robot from Yaskawa. The exhibit produces four ready-to-use Luer connectors at a time within a cycle time of around ten seconds. The part weight of the PP component is 0.2 grams, the soft TPE component even weighs only 0.05 grams. The closures are capped and the threads are unscrewed directly in the mould. The innovative high-end solution eliminates the need for a second mould and additional assembly line. This significantly reduces the manufacturing costs.

ALLROUNDER 470 A on Sverital partner stand

While solid silicone will be processed on the ARBURG stand, partner Sverital will be demonstrating liquid silicone (LSR) injection moulding with an electric ALLROUNDER 470 A and a special pump system.
