Automotive
On ALLROUNDER machines, a wide variety of materials can be processed in zero-fault quality to produce LED lenses, rain/light sensors, high-quality interior surface finishes or plastic-metal composites in the engine compartment, for example. We have mastered all processes and process combinations.

The requirement profile of electronics products is as varied as the sector itself. With our injection molding solutions, a wide variety of functional items can be produced – from housings with a decorated surface and hybrid connectors made from overmolded inserts, through to sensors and cable grommets.

Medical
The medical technology sector requires high standards of precision and cleanliness. The stainless steel surfaces of the clamping unit can be cleaned quickly and are insensitive even to the aggressive agents commonly used during sterilization.

Optics
When it comes to high-end applications for the optics sector, part precision, quality and cleanliness of the production environment must be 100% right. Thick-walled lenses, for example, can be produced with a multi-station mold using multi-component injection molding. This reduces the cycle time significantly.

Processes

ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF)
Unlike conventional additive manufacturing techniques, with ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF), qualified standard granulates are melted as in the injection molding process. The freeformer uses tiny droplets of plastic to build the part on the basis of 3D CAD data.

Multi-component injection molding
Micro-components are often smaller than a single grain of granulate. A homogeneous preparation of the melt, short dwell times of the plastics and operation according to the first-in, first-out principle are therefore key for the quality of your parts. We also offer practical and efficient solutions in this area.

Fiber direct compounding (FDC)
During fiber direct compounding, fibers with a length of up to 50 mm can be added directly into the liquid melt via a side feeder on the injection unit. This minimizes damage to the fibers during material processing. In addition, the fiber length, fiber content and material combination can also be individually adjusted.

ProFoam
During physical foaming with ProFoam, the plastic is mixed with a gaseous blowing agent in a granulate lock upstream of the injection unit. Microcellular "bubbles" are formed during injection. Using dynamic mold temperature control, lightweight parts with high-gloss surfaces can be produced.

Particle-foam Composite Injection Molding
The PCIM process combines a foamed insert with a polymer component. By melting the surface of the foamed insert in a defined manner when injecting the plastic, a lightweight part is produced with a durable mechanical connection, dispensing with the need for downstream assembly steps.

Thermoset injection molding

Liquid silicone injection molding (LSR)
ARBURG has been pioneering the development of liquid silicone injection molding since 1980. This is reflected in the extent of our expertise and the LSR-specific injection molding technology available. This means that we can always devise the perfect system solution for the specific customer requirements.

Powder injection moulding (PIM)
This process enables the cost-effective series production of durable, precision metal (MIM) or ceramic (CIM) parts. The major benefit of the multistage process: freedom of shape. With ARBURG as your partner, you can interlink all process steps.

Injection compression molding
This process enables the production of low-stress, thick-walled components without sink marks and with high contour accuracy. However, this is a complex process and requires a detailed knowledge of the process and high-quality machine technology.

Overmoulding inserts
Thanks to the integration of manual operations and innovative working methods, fuel tank strainers are overmolded cost-effectively to a high level of quality in small batch volumes. A total of seven production steps take place within a total cycle time of 50 seconds.

Clean room technology

In-mold labeling (IML)
The IML process is suitable for high-speed packaging, as well as technical applications. This means, for example, that thin-walled containers can be labeled directly in the mold using inserts. The handling of the finished molded parts is performed by a special IML system.

ARBURG is bringing four high-performance electric entry-level machines to the market in spring 2016 in the form of the GOLDEN ELECTRIC series. They offer interesting features for the precise, energy-efficient production of high-quality parts.

ARBURG produces the freeformer including the associated control system at its central production location in Lossburg in the northern Black Forest. The machine designed for industrial applications produces innovative functional components using qualified standard granulates in an additive process.

freeformer 200-3X and 300-3X
Using the ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) process, our freeformers additively manufacture functional plastic parts from qualified standard granulates on the basis of 3D CAD data. The additive manufacturing systems are therefore suitable for the industrial additive manufacturing of one-off parts and multi-variant small-volume batches, as well as the customization of high-volume parts.

Versatile hydraulic machines
Our hydraulic ALLROUNDER injection molding machines can be used for a wide variety of applications and can be individually adapted for operation in conjunction with all familiar injection molding techniques. Assistance packages for control systems

Six-axis robot
With the plug and work packages powered by ARBURG, six-axis Kuka robots can be programmed just as conveniently as ALLROUNDER injection molding machines and MULTILIFT robotic systems. The operator works in his familiar operating environment and requires no special programming skills even for complex processes.

Linear robotic systems
The high-performance and compact MULTILIFT linear robotic systems can be fully integrated in the SELOGICA machine control system. They are available with flexibly combinable axes, axis lengths and axis drives suitable for loads of between 6 and 40 kg.

Complex turnkey systems
The modular ALLROUNDER construction kit system enables the right injection molding solution to be individually configured for every requirement - from a simple machine to a complete turnkey system. In the tandem solution, two machines are linked via a robotic system.
