Practical Insights into AM

29.03.2021
Over 650 viewers tuned in to the third arburgXvision broadcast on March 25, 2021. On the topic of "Game without borders - additive manufacturing (AM) breaks down boundaries", ARBURG experts Lukas Pawelczyk, Head of Sales freeformer, and Martin Neff, Head of Plastic Freeforming, offered a wealth of know-how, provided viewers with valuable ideas, and showed a wide range of application examples.

Experts provide practical insights
The ARBURG experts highlighted many aspects of industrial additive manufacturing during the two-hour live internet TV event. They demonstrated the potential of ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) with the freeformer and explained the benefits and added value compared to injection molding and other conventional processes.

Interactive surveys on the potential of AM
Live surveys also provided exciting conclusions about trends in the sector. According to the survey, 70 per cent of German respondents and as many as 90 per cent of international respondents already use additive manufacturing in their companies, predominantly in the automotive and medical technology sectors. In the future, around one in three wants to produce prototypes using additive manufacturing. At the same time, interest in "real" functional components is increasing: 46 percent of German and as much as 66 percent of international participants want to focus more on the additive manufacturing of devices and serial parts.

Live link, interactive questions and summary
During two live links to the ARBURG Prototyping Center in Lossburg, AKF technology consultant Simon Leitl demonstrated some of the aspects to consider when optimizing additively manufactured components.
Viewers were also keen to take advantage of the opportunity to ask further questions via the chat function during the digital theme day.

In the concluding discussion round with moderator Guido Marschall, the experts summarized the day's central findings.
