ARBURG at the Hannover Messe 2019

AM Factory produces "on demand"

25.03.2019
ARBURG is once again set to present innovative practical solutions for the "Digital Factory" at the Hannover Messe from April 1 through 5, 2019. This year's highlight at booth J10 in hall 6 will be the "AM (Additive Manufacturing) Factory".

Preview event: Innovation 4.0 from Baden-Württemberg
ARBURG already hosted a preview event for Deutsche Messe AG on 18 March 2019. Exhibitors from Baden-Württemberg offered a preview of their highlights for Hannover Messe. Heinz Gaub, Managing Director Technology & Engineering at ARBURG, introduced visitors to the "AM Factory", which ARBURG will be presenting at Hannover Messe.

"AM Factory": Fully automated industrial additive manufacturing
"Our AM Factory demonstrates how an automated and IT-networked freeformer can individualize high-volume products," explains Heinz Gaub, Managing Director Technology & Engineering at ARBURG. "In our practical example, a freeformer enhances vacuum gripper base plates made of aluminum 'on demand', adding functional contours made of soft plastic. All handling, including functional testing of the newly created gripper, is performed by a six-axis robot. With our ATCM SCADA system, the manufacturing process of each gripper is 100 percent traceable."

Complex turnkey system
The central elements of the turnkey system consist of a freeformer 300-3X, a six-axis robot and the Arburg Turnkey Control Module (ATCM) SCADA system, which collects and merges process and quality data. The DM code of the part is used to display relevant manufacturing data on an individual website, such as build time, material, droplet count, and build chamber temperature. In addition, the AM Factory uses a modular and scalable safety controller that ARBURG has developed especially for complex turnkey systems in order to meet the continuously increasing safety requirements.

Individualized parts created step by step

  • Selection of the gripper variant at the terminal
  • Labeling of the gripper base plate with a DM code
  • Plasma treatment of the plate
  • Application of the TPU contour with the freeformer
  • Functional check

"Integrated Lightweight Plaza": freeformer for lightweight construction
The areas of lightweight construction and functional integration are also of interest in the context of the ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) process. To showcase this application at Hannover Messe 2019, ARBURG will be displaying the freeformer 200-3X as part of the "Integrated Lightweight Plaza" special exhibition (hall 5). Manuel Wöhrle, Senior Sales Manager Lightweight at ARBURG, will also give a presentation on innovative lightweight construction processes in additive manufacturing and injection molding as part of the "Forum Industrial Supply" (hall 4) on April 2, 2019. In addition, ARBURG's Managing Director Technology & Engineering, Heinz Gaub, will participate in a panel of the "1st Lightweighting Summit" held by the German Federal Ministry of Economics

arburgXworld: Customer portal for machine fleet, service and spare parts ordering
For the launch of the "arburgXworld" customer portal, which has been accessible to customers in Germany since March 2019, the three central "Machine Center" (machine fleet overview), "Service Center" (service tickets around the clock) and "Shop" (interactive online spare parts ordering) apps are available. There is also the "Calendar", in which upcoming maintenance and other tasks can be clearly displayed. Once enabled, the required applications (apps) in the cloud can be used on a PC or mobile device.
