The potential of ARBURG Plastic Freeforming
ARBURG will be presenting the potential of the freeformer and of ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) and how these have developed on stand F70 in Hall 3.1 at the formnext show, which is to be held from 15 to 18 November 2016 in Frankfurt.
Innovative one- and two-component parts
Three exhibits will be on show at the formnext trade fair, using innovative one- and two-component parts to demonstrate the broad range of applications of the freeformer in industrial additive manufacturing. The system continues to be developed on an ongoing and practical basis. The focus is on qualifying more standard granulates and on process stability. A material dryer integrated in the machine control system is now available as an option. The maintenance intervals for the discharge system have been significantly extended.
APF processes a broad product spectrum
APF enables the use of inexpensive, qualified plastic granulates. These are first melted in a plastizising cylinder as with injection molding. Plastic droplets are then applied layer by layer onto a moving part carrier via the nozzle of a stationary discharge unit, using high-frequency piezo technology at a specified duty cycle. As they cool, the droplets automatically fuse together. The desired three-dimensional component is therefore created layer by layer. The freeformer is equipped with two discharge units as standard. This enables it to process an additional component in order, for example, to manufacture a part in different colors, with special tactile qualities, or as a hard/soft combination. The build chamber offers space for parts with maximum dimensions of 154 x 134 x 230 millimeters.
