CO2-negative primary products for the plastics industry The so-called NET materials®, or negative emission technology materials, are CO2-negative primary products for the plastics, chemical, agricultural and construction industries. [...] Biocarbons permanently bind up to 3.67 tonnes of CO 2 equivalent per tonne of biocarbon. The bio-oils produced as a byproduct are used as a CO 2 -negative base material for the chemical industry. Another byproduct is renewable energy capable of meeting baseload requirements. The active reduction of CO 2 started at the "minus CO 2 factory 001" in Eberswalde near Berlin.
The energy footprint drawn up by the project team showed that the production of a single disposable cup produces 14 grams of CO2, whereas a rinse cycle of ten cups only produces 11.8 grams of CO2. [...] The most CO2-friendly alternative turned out to be to produce suitable reusable cups on injection moulding machines directly at ARBURG and to equip the machines with these. Benchmark in medical technology - focus on total costs The practical example shows that significant cost benefits can be achieved through comprehensive collaboration, project planning, early selection and requirement-specific design of the injection moulding machine, including the mould, peripherals and material. A major benefit is the consolidation of all data in the Gestica control system in combination with numerous pilot and assistance functions. [...] This is accompanied by a footprint of the turnkey system that is around 25 per cent* smaller compared to a production cell with standard automation and a six-axis robot, and around 50 per cent** reduction in energy consumption thanks to injection moulding machines and temperature control units designed specifically for the application. CO2 emissions and the product carbon footprint (PCF) are also reduced.
