Withdrawal from Additive Manufacturing

ARBURG to withdraw from the additive manufacturing (AM) business segment with effect from December 31, 2025. Existing freeformer customers and users will continue to receive support in respect of service and spare parts.

“This business decision was made following careful evaluation and consideration of the prevailing market conditions and the current economic parameters,” says Dr. Armin Schmiedeberg, Chairman of the Advisory Board at ARBURG. Even though the freeformer industrial manufacturing system and the associated ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) manufacturing process caused a sensation in the industry following their launch at K 2013 due to their unique technological features, neither the economic targets for this business segment could be achieved in the long term, nor did the global 3D printing market develop as expected overall.

Customer support ensured worldwide

Existing aftermarket freeformer customers and users can continue to rely on the ARBURG brand promise “Wir sind da.” - we are there for you: in the future, they will receive comprehensive support directly from ARBURG. Among other things, this will include a reliable spare parts supply and comprehensive service for freeformers already in the market. However, ARBURG will no longer be taking part in trade fairs, events, and symposia.

ARBURG takes over employees and expertise

The 40 or so ARBURGadditive employees working in sales, development, application technology, and assembly will be given the opportunity to transfer to ARBURG, so that customers can continue to rely on competent contact partners and experts with many years of experience.
