Circular economy and efficient use of resources

ARBURG has combined its activities relating to the circular economy and efficient use of resources within a single program, arburgGREENworld, which offers answers to important questions in the world of plastics processing. At K 2019, the focus is on the circular economy and efficient use of resources.

With two injection moulding exhibits and in cooperation with its Austrian partner Erema (Hall 9, Stand 05), ARBURG will be showing examples of how recyclates can be reused and returned to the circular economy.

  • Focus: Circular economy and efficient use of resources
  • Four pillars: GREENmachine, GREENproduction, GREENservices and GREENenvironment
  • Application examples: Processing PP recyclates and PCR

arburgGREENworld: four columns

This pillar covers everything to do with efficient and resource-friendly machine technology, beginning with minimising your carbon footprint through energy-saving operations, adapted dimensions, and high-quality ALLROUNDER technology, and ending with smart control systems and clever assistance systems.

This is where innovative procedures and networked processes are located. New technologies, digitalisation, and traceability ensure production processes that conserve resources and increase overall production efficiency.

This pillar covers all services to do with plastics processing. This includes the transfer of expertise – for example as regards the use of recyclates and innovative processes, and sound advice on resource and energy efficiency.

This area covers internal ARBURG processes. The company’s central production facility in Lossburg produces a comparatively small carbon footprint . Factors contributing to this include efficient logistics, the high proportion of in-house production, environmentally friendly processes, and the use of natural resources and renewable energies.

Circular Economy

PP cup with recyclate
A packaging version of the hybrid ALLROUNDER 1020 H processes new PP material together with 30% added single-type PP recyclate to produce thin-walled cups. ARBURG is cooperating on the project with EREMA, which will be making the recyclate available at K 2019.

Products derived from household waste (PCR)
An electric two-component ALLROUNDER 630 A produces industrial handles made out of PCR and TPE for ALLROUNDER safety doors. The application shows how PCR from household waste can be returned to the circular economy as a raw material for durable technical products.
