ALLROUNDER 820 S

A hydraulic ALLROUNDER 820 S demonstrates the innovative fibre direct-compounding unit (FDC) injection moulding process using the example of a housing. Fibre length, fibre content and material combination can be flexibly adjusted, enabling the component properties to be specifically adapted to the respective application. The fibre direct-compounding unit is integrated directly into the injection unit and comprises a lateral feeder with a cutting device, a modified cylinder and a special screw geometry. Continuous fibres made from cost-effective glass fibre rovings are cut to length and fed directly into the plastic melt. This enables material costs to be reduced by up to 40 per cent compared with long fibre granulates.

Advantages at a glance

Direct compounding of continuous fibres

Continuous fibres are introduced directly into the melt, allowing the fibre content and length to be flexibly adjusted – for optimised component properties and significantly reduced material costs.

Significant cost savings

The use of roving fibres and plastic granules instead of expensive special long-fibre granulates significantly reduces costs.

Targeted improvement of component properties

By adding continuous rovings directly to the melt, longer fibres, higher strengths and tailor-made component properties are achieved.
