An electric ALLROUNDER 520 A demonstrates the production of a puzzle using the LSR process at the Technology Days. A family mould with five mould cavities is used, each with different shot volumes, which presents a particular challenge in terms of process technology. The intelligent SMARTSHOT‑I cold runner system from Elmet has a connection to the machine and compensates for this imbalance precisely and fully automatically. Integrated sensors detect the thrust forces at the needle valves in real time and adaptively control the needle positions – without any manual mould-entry operation. This reduces the run-in time by around 93% compared to conventional mould filling studies, so that a high level of process stability is achieved after only a short time.
