Cube-mould technology maximises output

Cube-mould technology allows for the output to be more than doubled, reducing unit costs. This becomes apparent in the high-volume production of two-colour flip-top closures. Our ALLROUNDER CUBE, precisely tailored to a 32-cavity cube mould, produces more than 13,000 parts per hour.

All required production steps run simultaneously in a cycle time of just 8.5 s: the first component produced is the 0.8-gram drop-shaped top section, which then cools on the second cube side, while the 2.4-gram second component is moulded on in the third position. On the fourth side of the mould, the flip-top closures are removed without influencing the cycle time, set down on a separate station and capped. Finally, a visual quality inspection is carried out on the finished parts.

This is how it works

Cube-mould technology
With four cube sides available for production and two parting lines positioned one behind the other, mould filling, cooling and part removal are implemented simultaneously in cube moulds. In addition, twice the number of cavities are available with the same mould mounting surface. This results in high production capacity.


The flip-top closures are produced on an ALLROUNDER CUBE 2900 cube-mould machine with a clamping force of 2,900 kN. The servo-electric toggle-type clamping unit and the integrated 32-cavity mould with servo-electric cube rotation enable fast cycles at reduced energy consumption.

Process and know-how

Multi-component injection moulding
The two independently moveable injection units are horizontally positioned and travel above the moveable mounting platen. The pre-moulded parts are transferred precisely and rapidly via servo-electric cube rotation. The production sequence can be reliably optimised with the central SELOGICA control system.
