ALLROUNDERs: efficient high-volume production

Injection moulding is one of the most established and significant processes in plastics processing. It enables parts to be produced in high unit volumes with a high degree of design freedom. Internal threads, undercuts, gearings and free-form surfaces are also possible.

A rotating screw melts a plastic granulate by means of heat and conveys the plasticised compound to the screw tip. The melt is then injected at high pressure through an axial movement of the screw into the closed mould, in which a cavity in the shape of the component to be produced is located. After a cooling and hardening phase, the mould opens and the finished parts can be ejected or removed.
