ARBURG at PIAE Europe 2020

Efficiency and conservation of resources in automotive engineering

10.02.2020
ARBURG is contributing to PIAE Europe on 28 and 29 July 2020 in Mannheim (Germany) with a presentation on the subject of process-integrated material preparation and the conservation of resources in lightweight construction. In addition, ARBURG will be presenting innovative research projects and lightweight components (foyer, stand 119).

FDC process Resource-efficient lightweight construction
In his specialist presentation (25. 03.2020, 11:30 a.m.), Martin Hoyer, Head of Application Technology Development at ARBURG, will explain how process-integrated material preparation can be used to achieve resource-friendly and efficient production of high-strength components. Fibre direct compounding (FDC), jointly developed by ARBURG and the Kunststoffzentrum SKZ in Würzburg, Germany, will be presented along with practical examples from high-volume production.

Research projects: Lightweight construction expertise from ARBURG
ARBURG is actively involved in many research projects that will be presented at PIAE:

  • The MoPaHyb project
Together with the Fraunhofer ICT, Pfinztal, ARBURG has realised a bolt-on long-fibre injection unit with integrated fibre direct compounding (FDC).
  • SamPa project
Together with the University of Dresden, ARBURG developed an innovative vehicle door with foamed and overmoulded components. This involved developing a new process chain for the combined processing of plastics in particle foams and injection moulding.
  • FuPro project
Using the example of a car backrest, ARBURG and the University of Dresden are demonstrating the potential of a lightweight construction solution for future electric vehicles. ARBURG also participated in the implementation of a new type of gripper technology.

  • ProLemo project
A production environment for lightweight motors was developed for this project. ARBURG and other partners covered the entire value chain for the production of electric drives.

Additively manufactured lightweight components
In addition to injection moulding exhibits, ARBURG will be presenting a selection of functional components at PIAE Europe 2020 which have been produced on freeformers using in ARBURG's Plastic Freeforming process (APF).
