We missed you Technology Days!
Recycling, greater process control, arburgXworld and more
“Technology Days” – ARBURG’s annual global customer and media exhibition in Lossburg, Germany – returned with real excitement in June 2022 after a two year gap. The covid pandemic caused the break, and customers were eager to return to ARBURG’s headquarters to see and touch the latest updates in moulding technology, automation, materials and process control.
“This is what we were waiting for”
From 22 to 25 June 2022, over 3,700 visitors from all over the world flocked to ARBURG’s Technology Days to absorb the latest developments in injection moulding. The unique event, with the theme and title "Think Tank", exhibited around 50 working machine exhibits, the Efficiency Arena with its focus on digitalisation and sustainability, new service solutions and fascinating technical presentations. Visitors were delighted with the breadth of technologies, new innovations that they could see in practice, and enjoyed the spirit of this unique event in the plastics industry.
First for new applications that moulders want
Technology Days is renowned for introducing moulding companies to new, time-saving and carbon-reducing innovations.
For example, there was a demonstration of “smart” injection moulding of recyclates and bio plastics, useful for some UK customers which in 2022 must pay a new Plastic Packaging Tax unless a minimum 30% of their plastic feedstock is recycled. For achieving higher levels of process control, another highlight was the Gestica control unit with its digital assistants, such as aXw Control FillAssist, created in collaboration with development partner Simcon to automate and simulate filling processes even further.
Even for very experienced moulders, who have seen many ARBURG innovations over the years, there were new things to discover. Sister companies AMKmotion and InnovatiQ exhibited here with their solutions for drive systems and additive manufacturing respectively. A digital highlight was the brand new 5G campus network, which ARBURG, as a pilot customer of Deutsche Telekom, used in the Customer Centre at the Technology Days 2022 for networked manufacturing in plastic processing.
Digital and sustainable innovations take priority
In the Efficiency Arena around 20 experts from ARBURG and partners demonstrated and answered questions on all topics relating to "arburgGREENworld" and "arburgXworld".
Nine separate stations focused on smart solutions for resource conservation and digitalisation along the entire injection moulding value chain. Visitors witnessed the production of drinking cups using recycled plastic that can be separated by material type, an example of a “R-Cycle” initiative application, a partnership with ARBURG in Germany to increase recycling in plastic manufacture.
The circular economy and digitalisation are strongly linked; guests of the expo saw an entire range of products and services by ARBURG in two new, permanently installed rooms. In the "arburgGREENworld" exhibit, a hybrid Allrounder 370 H 600 – 170 processed Post Industrial Recyclate (PIR) that originated from technical textiles found in airbags. The "arburgXworld" area showed many applications for making production more efficient and sustainable using by digital tools.
