freeformer coming to Galway

ARBURG to attend Medical Technology Ireland 2019

At Medical Technology Ireland, to be held from 25 to 26 September 2019, ARBURG will be showing something very special: The production of a pill with several active ingredients using a freeformer 200-3X two nozzle additive manufacturing system.

At Ground Floor, stand number 65, the visitors will have the opportunity to discuss the new three nozzle variant of a freeformer and abilities in additive manufacturing with ARBURG experts including a specialist who is flying over from Germany for the event.

Highly individual medical technology
With the ARBURG freeformer, a large variety of amorphous and semi-crystalline thermoplastics can be processed. Modified original materials are available for medical technology, including FDA-approved materials. This makes ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) predestined for use in medical technology. The application ARBURG will be presenting is aimed at individualising the active ingredient formulation within a pill for medical use. The freeformer is building up pills that use integrated, complex microstructures to accommodate different drugs in different sectors. Additive manufacturing allows highly flexible and simple adaptation of the respective dose for each patient instead of a combination of several pills each containing a fixed dose of an active ingredient.
