Live: functional components produced with the freeformer

From 26 to 28 May, ARBURG will be presenting an overview of its extensive portfolio for additive manufacturing at the tct Asia 2021 AM trade fair in Shanghai, China. The highlight at stand G70 in hall 7.1 will be a freeformer which will be producing a two-component cap in a unique material combination of original PP and TPU live for visitors to watch.

Additive manufacturing event in China
"At tct Asia, we will be using our freeformers to showcase innovative and complex applications. Customers and visitors to the trade fair will benefit from our extensive know-how in the field of plastics processing and will be able to meet our experts in person and receive in-depth advice regarding the capabilities of our APF process," emphasises Zhao Tong, Managing Director of the ARBURG organisations in China.

freeformer 300-3X: robust flip-top cap
"At tct Asia 2021, our large freeformer 300-3X will be producing a functional flip-top cap made from semi-crystalline PP and elastic TPE. This is a unique and highly complex material combination in the AM industry," explains Wei Yen Lim, an APF expert at ARBURG China. Prototypes with living hinges like this can be opened and closed several thousand times and can therefore undergo full functional testing.
Additionally, the ARBURG stand will feature a whole host of example components and visitors will be able to test the functionality and resilience of various demo parts at interactive stations.

ARBURG Prototyping Center in China
In China, ARBURG runs a Prototyping Center that produces sample parts in the freeformer around the clock. This enables potential customers to precisely examine whether the ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) process will actually be suitable for their component, material and application before they commit to a purchase.
