Toothbrush
High-tech for healthcare items
Multi-component injection moulding is an extremely important process in product design and requires the production process to meet high standards. Toothbrushes in the healthcare industry represent a good example of where it is used: a specific combination of materials produces high-quality plastic parts with a soft-touch surface in a single step.
The toothbrushes are produced on an ALLROUNDER MORE, designed specifically for multi-component injection moulding. The machines offer increased space for mould technology, more flexibility in assembly, as well as numerous optimised features for added convenience and quick changeovers.
Highlights
- ALLROUNDER MORE: special series for multi-component injection moulding
- Convenient installation: lots of space for mould and ejector
- Quick changeovers: pluggable media connections on the vertical injection unit
- Central GESTICA control system: mould functions, injection units and automation immediately accessible
- Coordinated machine and robot technology: injection unit and removal vertical

Technology

Machine
Multi-component technology with added value: ALLROUNDER MORE machines are equipped with a highly dynamic electric toggle-type clamping unit that features energy-efficient liquid-cooled servo motors. Each injection unit comes with aXw Control ScrewPilot for precise injection.

Robotic system
A smart solution to limited space for part removal in the case of vertical injection units: the MULTILIFT V robotic system is installed above the mobile mould mounting platen and is adjustable. A movable X-axis allows for flexibility when approaching the position of the mould-entry axis between the vertical injection unit and the demoulding position.

Process

Multi-component injection moulding
The two injection units are arranged horizontally and vertically. They can each be moved independently. The pre-moulded parts are transferred precisely and rapidly via a servo-electric index unit. The production sequence can be reliably optimised via the central SELOGICA control system.

Technical injection moulding
Cost-effective production of high quality functional components for applications such as healthcare requires fully automated process sequences. Multi-component injection moulding is predestined for this application. An important feature is the high level of control system integration and central process management.
