Ground-breaking ceremony in Lossburg

ARBURG expands its production facility

20.05.2019
On 16 May 2019, ARBURG officially marked the start of construction on a new assembly hall with a ground-breaking ceremony. With the new 28,500-m² building, the company is expanding its production capacities for large ALLROUNDER injection moulding machines and turnkey systems at its parent factory in Lossburg.

Investing in the future
In his speech, Michael Hehl, who as Managing Partner is responsible for factory development, emphasised continuous investments in the sole production location: "We have been in a state of rapid progress since 2007: Customer Center, assembly hall, parking structure, exhibition logistics hall, Training Center and now a new assembly hall with an investment volume in the double-digit million euro range". Over the past twelve years, construction activities in Lossburg saw a considerable sum in the hundred-million euro range being invested into new buildings alone.

More space for large machines and turnkey systems
ARBURG has experienced continuous growth for many years regarding large injection moulding machines up to 6,500 kN of clamping force and customer-specific turnkey systems. This had already prompted the construction of assembly hall 22, which opened in 2016. Because its capacity has reached its limits, the new two-storey hall is now being built. It will have a usable floor space of 28,500 m², of which 21,900 m² are available for production and administration, the remaining areas are reserved for technology and traffic. The new space will increase the total usable area at our headquarters by 17% to almost 200,000 m².

Environmental protection and prudent use of resources and energy
As with all ARBURG construction activities, care is taken to not only achieve functionality and aesthetics, but also to ensure that resources and energy are used prudently. Examples include the use of geothermal energy for heating and cooling, the utilisation of waste heat from machines and rainwater as well as the expansion of photovoltaic systems. With these and other measures, ARBURG is implementing highly integrated building technology in the new building, which reduces the requirement for primary energy to a minimum and thereby protects the environment.
