Liquid silicone rubbers (LSR) are gaining significance in the manufacture of elastic parts using the injection moulding process. Excellent heat, cold and light resistance, good electrical insulating properties as well as their physiological harmlessness open up a wide spectrum of applications for LSR moulded parts such as numerous types of sealing elements for the automotive and machine construction sectors or fittings and diaphragms in medical technology.

The specific material properties of LSR require a special production process which is also referred to as LIM (liquid injection moulding). An LSR system comprises a dosage system for feeding and mixing the material components required, an injection moulding machine with a special plasticising unit, a heated mould and often a robotic system and brush devices.
