With powder injection moulding (PIM), injection moulded parts can be produced from powdered ceramic or metal. The ARBURG machines for processing powdered materials are based on the ALLROUNDER series machines. The injection cylinders are, however, adapted for the particularly abrasive properties of the materials used.
Two-component liquid silicones only vulcanise when the two materials are brought together at a ratio of 1:1 and heat is applied. The ALLROUNDERs supplied by ARBURG for LSR processing are equipped with all the necessary components such as a dosing device for feeding and mixing the components, a plasticising unit, heated mould, vacuum system and peripherals for demoulding.
Thermosets are also referred to as curable or cross-linkable moulding compounds. They are created in a cross-linking reaction by the introduction of pressure and heat in the injection mould. Owing to this property, machines especially equipped for thermoset processing are required, which ARBURG supplies based on the proven ALLROUNDER S series machines.
Micro injection moulding comprises the fields of precision micro parts, microstructure parts and high-precision parts. Their production requires details and tolerances in the micron range. ARBURG continuously develops new technologies for micro-part manufacturers. In addition to ever smaller injection units and screw diameters, complete production cells have already been designed and implemented for micro injection moulding.
Injection compression moulding is used for producing optical items as well for the manufacture of thermoset, ceramic and metal powder, LSR and thermoplastic moulded parts. Reasons for its use include: Reduced cycle times, suppression of open jet formation, prevention of sink marks, reduced flow path/wall thickness ratio and component tension, improvement in specific evenness as well as enhanced moulding accuracy and part quality and component strength.
Fluid injection technology (FIT), which includes gas injection technology (GIT) and water injection technology (WIT) is primarily used for moulded parts with thick walls, partially reinforced and ribbed constructions, or parts where cores are to be replaced by a hollow space. Thanks to the flexible SELOGICA control system, fluid technology applications can be performed problem-free using ALLROUNDERs.
ARBURG has been involved with this technology for a long time and offers a variety of clean room solutions which are successfully implemented in practice. The spectrum extends from ALLROUNDERs which produce entirely in the clean room, via modular, decentralised clean rooms in which the conveyor belt is encapsulated and the moulded parts are transported into the contamination-free area, through to cells with clean room modules above the machine clamping side and the robotic system area.
Achieving energy efficiency, however, is a complex task in the injection moulding sector. ARBURG can assist you in implementing this strategy in a holistic manner with respect to all the above points. Our “Energy Efficiency Allround” initiative optimises energy consumption in your production with innovative ALLROUNDERs, MULTILIFT robotic systems and other peripherals, as well as our extensive expertise in the field of energy savings.
