20/11/2008 - An Open House took place in the ARBURG subsidiary in Aulnay, France. Next to presentations of energy efficiency a special highlight of this Technology-on-Tour-event was a comparison and demonstration of energy consumption between an ALLROUNDER 470 A 1000-400 and an ALLROUNDER 470 S 1000-400. On both machines staple boxes were produced. The used material was Moplen HP 500N from Basell.
Each machine was running with a cycle time of 15 seconds. Especially during the dosing time you could clearly see the advantage regarding energy consumption, which was 50 per cent less on the ALLDRIVE. Overall you could achieve with the ALLROUNDER A an energy saving of about 40 per cent in total.
For a better view and explanation of the clamping unit of the ALLDRIVE, this machine had a PC-cover integrated in the safety cover. Both machines were equipped with a “Power metering and energy consumption indicator”. The results were transferred directly to a flat screen fixed next to the machines.
A third ALLROUNDER 420 A 1000-400 demonstrated a fast running 2-cavitiy mould from Hofstetter. This machine was running in 2.2 seconds, including a robot system taking the two cups and piling them. The material was a transparent PP (Metocene HM 1753), especially developed for the packaging industry.
Besides the exhibits the customers could attend the main presentation with the main topic “energy efficiency”. Séverine Bretéché from ARBURG France and Eddie Stueckle from ARBURG Germany showed over 120 customers how to use energy as efficient in our plant in Lossburg as well as during the production at the customers´ site. A technical part and a packaging product were used as examples to demonstrate the differences between electrical machines and hydraulic machines.
During that day 160 customers came from all over France and even from Tunesia so that the premises from ARBURG France were almost at its limit. Serge Cannito, Managing Director of ARBURG France, summarized: “Energy efficiency is the overall topic for the coming years. The event focused on measures how to avoid inefficient energy consumption. We got in first contact with several interested customers and potential new customers. Interesting discussions took place and we received a huge amount of project requests and inquiries.”
