On Wednesday June 04, 2008 ARBURG A/S had invited to the first of a series of planned themedays. In the new showroom facilities in Greve the visitors were introduced to ARBURG´s new concept „Energy Efficiency Allround“.
Eddie Oswald informed of the extensive energy efficiency methods that our plant in Germany is making use of – both during production of our ALLROUNDERs and also especially when it comes to heating or cooling office facilities. For this alternative energy sources are used such as geothermal heating, solar heating and even the surplus heating from the production is recycled.
Michael Gorth from our international salessupport group lectured about energy efficiency on the different type of machines and in the injection moulding process seen as a whole. SEAS-NVE Strømmen A/S was represented by Svend Jakobsen who spoke about ways to measure the energy consumption during different production processes, which will qualify you to optimize the energy consumption of the daily production.
Apart from the lectures we had two machines on display, a hydraulic ALLROUNDER 420 C GOLDEN EDITION and a electric ALLROUNDER 470 A ALLDRIVE, both with a clamping force of 1.000 kN. These were equipped with similar moulds, which produced stapelboxes. This gave the visitors a unique possibility to observe the differences in cyclustime and energy consumption on the different type of machines.
The hydraulic ALLROUNDER 420 C GOLDEN EDITION used 0,68 kWh/kg at cyclustime of 20 s, while the electrical ALLROUNDER 470 A used 0,39 kWh/kg at cyclustime of 15 s. With these results it was clearly stated that by producing on a electrical machine it is possible to cut over 40% of the consumption of energy and at the same time also experience a substantial shorter cyclustime.
