27/05/09 - ARBURG will be represented with six exhibits and a stand area of over 500 square metres at the NPE in Chicago from 22 to 26 June 2009. On exhibition stand no. 46048 in Hall A (South Building), the company will provide clear evidence of its performance spectrum and its competence in the field of cost-efficient high-tech solutions. The main focus is on the high-precision and fast, fully-electric ALLROUNDER As and complex production cells which ARBURG designs and manufactures according to customer requirements.
 
“At the NPE 2009, our focus is on the performance of the fully-electric ALLDRIVE series, the integration of robotic systems in the field of complex production cells and also the advantages of the central SELOGICA control system”, says Friedrich Kanz, ARBURG’s Subsidiary Manager USA, describing this year’s trade fair appearance.

An assembly injection moulding together with an Inmould-Labeling application will be presented on an ALLROUNDER 520 A with a clamping force of 1,500 kN. Using this first process, moulded part complexity can be increased, assembly steps can be integrated into the injection moulding process and the cost-efficiency can thus be significantly increased. The high flexibility of the fully-electric AARBURG machines is demonstrated by the 570 A with a clamping force of 2,000 kN. This is not merely a two-component machine; an LSR is processed in parallel with a thermoplastic. Furthermore, both machines are equipped with a vertically-operating MULTILIFT V / MULTILIFT V SELECT robotic system. The third fully-electric machine is the new ALLROUNDER 720 A with a clamping force of 3,200 kN. The largest ALLDRIVE machine was presented for the first time at the Technology Days and will have its first trade fair appearance at the NPE. With a high-speed packaging application, the exhibit demonstrates the excellent performance of the fully-electric ARBURG machines with regard to speed and precision.

The hydraulic ALLROUNDER 375 V features a clamping force of 500 kN and a size 170 injection unit. This vertical machine thus represents a machine series, which is ideal for the encapsulation of inserts, in Chicago. The ALLROUNDER V machines are characterised by their free-space system and the fixed, lower mould platen. Due to the free-space system and the low table heights, these ALLROUNDERs are suitable for both manual as well as automated insertion and removal of moulded parts, which is impressively demonstrated at the NPE. Here, a six-axis robotic system is used, the control system of which features an integral SELOGICA user interface. This enables the machine installation technician to program all movements of the robotic system in a schematic sequence within his familiar injection moulding environment, without external assistance.

ARBURG will be presenting its expertise in the micro injection moulding sector with the smallest ALLROUNDER machine of the S series, a hydraulic ALLROUNDER 170 S with a clamping force of 150 kN, a size 30 injection unit and a position-controlled, 12-millimetre screw. The exhibit is equipped with an eight-cavity mould and will produce micro gear wheels with a part weight of 0.001 grams, in a cycle time of 8 seconds.
